The Assessor determines the value of all taxable real and personal property in the county for the purpose of distributing tax liabilities in an equitable manner.  Additionally, the Assessor is responsible for processing and maintaining records regarding tax exemption, including senior citizens, historical properties, churches, and public properties as well as programs such as open space and forest land.
