Postponing or Excusing Jury Service
In Light of Special Circumstances or Emergencies
If a prospective juror encounters circumstances, such as personal emergencies, reasonable accommodations will be made to postpone service to a later date. Every special circumstance will be addressed on an individual basis and should be referred to the clerk's office
All requests to be excused or postponed will be reviewed by one of the judges. Please be aware that the clerk will not make any determination about whether a juror will be excused or service will be postponed to a later date.
Verifiable Medical Excuses
If there is a medical reason why a person cannot serve, a physician's written verification that details why the juror cannot serve and the length or duration of the medical problem must be provided. The juror will be notified of the acceptance or denial of the request.
Requests for Postponements
If a juror has vacation plans, special appointments, and/or events during the term that he or she is scheduled for jury duty, they may request to have their jury duty postponed to a different term. The juror will be notified of the postponement.
Send It In Writing
Please do not call the Clerk's office asking to be excused over the phone as phone requests cannot be considered. Please send your requests for a judge's review in writing to:
